Star Rapper Common, Michelle Obama, The Latest Targets of Foxnews

This past Wednesday, First Lady Michelle Obama hosted a poetry reading at the White House.  The guest list included Aimee Mann, Rita Dove, Steve Martin, and Chicago-based hip-hop star, Common.  Common was most likely asked to perform because he, like the Obamas, is from Chicago, and even attended the same church as the First Family.

But before he even spoke a word, those at Foxnews blasted Common for his violent lyrics, his vulgar language, and his hatred of police.  But Common is, and never was any of this.  He is known as the "Conscious Rapper", and uses his words to promote peace, and to build a stronger community.

Foxnews regular Karl Rove labeled Common a "thug".  Common is the guy who has done GAP ads, who is a vegetarian who supports PETA, and has appeared on Sesame Street with Elmo.

If those who say that Common is a violence advocate would just read his whole song, instead of a single line or part, they would easily conclude that he is a pro-peace, pro-community advocate.

  1. Everybody should check out the Daily Show Clip talking about this.

  2. Yeah, unfortunately the people who read this either know Common isn't a thug, or have already made up their mind and won't look into this any further. Go fuck yourselves, Fox News

  3. Common is easily one of the most socially conscious rappers in the game and for them to label him a thug is such a joke. His performance was amazing.

  7. People Singing about killing people (metaphorically or not) is not who the white house should invite. There are plenty of other poets more socially concuous than lonnie.

  8. He wasn't singing about killing people, the song is about rising up above that nonsense and becoming better people. Seriously TK know your facts.

  9. Listen to the songs not what someone else tells you. If the daily show is your source it explains a lot. Again I enjoy his music but some of the things he says are uncalled for no matter how you finish. Fox news hates him because he helps rev wright

  10. The liberals are living a double standard. If it were a republican in office the democrats would have been marching in protest.
